Students from LBO Hockeystraat Learn About the National Environmental Authority and the EMSAGS Project
On December 11, 12, and 13, students from LBO Hockeystraat were introduced to the National Environmental Authority (NMA) and the EMSAGS project. The school, known for fostering talent and skills with a strong focus on developing an entrepreneurial mindset, visited the NMA at the request of a teacher. This visit aimed to raise awareness about environmental issues and provide more insight into the EMSAGS project.
Two Engaging Presentations
During the informational sessions, students attended two interesting presentations:
- The National Environmental Authority (NMA):
The first presentation focused on the role and importance of the NMA as an environmental authority. It also provided an explanation of the various departments within the NMA and their efforts to contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable environment. - The EMSAGS Project:
The second presentation was centered on the EMSAGS project. This initiative focuses on improving the management of small-scale gold mining and promoting environmentally responsible mining technologies. The goal of the project is to encourage sustainable practices in the mining sector and minimize environmental impact.
A Valuable Experience
A total of 67 students and 9 supervisors participated in the informational sessions. The visit to the NMA and the presentations provided a valuable learning experience, giving students insight into important environmental issues and projects contributing to a more sustainable future.
Through these interactive and educational days, students from LBO Hockeystraat are encouraged to reflect on their role in environmental sustainability and their potential to contribute to positive change in their future careers and beyond.
