Call for Consultancy

The Ministry of Natural Resources in collaboration with the National Environmental Authority and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are engaged in the multi-year project Improving Environmental Management in the Mining Sector of Suriname, with Emphasis on Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (EMSAGS).
The EMSAGS project aims to improve environmental management in the mining sector of Suriname, with the emphasis on artisanal and small-scale gold mining as the biggest cause of deforestation in Suriname. The project is funded by, among others, the GEF through the UNDP and implementation is jointly in the hands of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the NMA.
One of the objectives of the project is to set up an environmentally responsible mining demonstration plant in Brokopondo.

International firm to design, construct and commission a mercury- free processing facility

The EMSAGS Project invites interested international firms to submit a proposal for the design, construction and commissioning of a mercury-free processing facility/ plant in the district of Brokopondo for the demonstration of environmentally responsible technologies to stakeholders.
The Request for Proposal and Terms of Reference can be downloaded from the website www.emsags.org or requested via [email protected].
Interested firms can send their proposals by email, no later than January 17th 2025, at 16:00 hrs. Suriname time to [email protected]
