EMSAGS Project Participation in the MAS Open Days 2024
On November 7, 8, and 9, 2024, the EMSAGS Project, together with the National Environmental Authority (NMA), participated in the Maritime Open Days organized by the Maritime Authority of Suriname (MAS). Over the course of three days, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the goals and impact of the EMSAGS Project. This project, implemented by the government, plays a key role in the collaboration with Suriname’s Maritime, Oil, and Gas sectors.
Education and Interaction during the MAS Open Days
The first two days of the event, November 7 and 8, were focused on students from the Junior Secondary Education (VOJ) and Senior Secondary Education (VOS) levels. During these days, students had the opportunity to learn more about the maritime sector and the specific role of the EMSAGS Project.
On the third day, November 9, the event was open to the general public, who also had the chance to learn about the connections between the EMSAGS Project and Suriname's maritime, oil, and gas sectors.
Quiz and Educational Activities
Visitors to the EMSAGS Project booth were able to participate in an interactive quiz to test their knowledge about the project. The quiz was not only a fun activity but also provided valuable information and insights. Many students found the quiz educational and appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the sector in which the EMSAGS Project is actively involved.
The EMSAGS Project looks back on a successful participation in the MAS Open Days and remains committed to raising awareness and providing information on the impact of small-scale mining, as well as the steps the government is taking to address this sector.
